Planning your overland trans-Himalayan journey requires an accurate budget. Unlike city cabs, traversing the 425km Srinagar-Leh highway involves treacherous high passes, specialized union regulations, and mandatory driver acclimatization protocols. Here is the official, transparent pricing blueprint for the 2026 operating season.

2026 Official Fleet Tariff (2-Day Journey)

Because crossing the Zoji La pass and traveling from 5,000 feet to over 11,500 feet in a single day carries a massive risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), the standard, medically recommended transit is a 2-Day journey with an overnight halt in Kargil.

The prices below are for a dedicated, private outstation vehicle drop from Srinagar to Leh (or vice versa) taking 2 days and 1 night.

Vehicle Class Capacity 2-Day Total Fare (INR)
Toyota Etios / Swift Dzire
Sedan
4 Passengers + Driver ₹ 18,500
Toyota Innova (Standard)
MUV
6 Passengers + Driver ₹ 21,500
Toyota Innova Crysta
Premium SUV
6/7 Passengers + Driver ₹ 24,500
Tempo Traveller (Pushback)
Mini-Bus
12 to 14 Passengers ₹ 32,500

What is Included in the Fare?

When you book directly with the Tourist Taxi Srinagar dispatch desk, there are no hidden costs. The quoted fare is comprehensive and includes:

  • Fuel / Diesel: Complete fuel costs for the 425km journey.
  • Toll Taxes & Checkpost Fees: All highway tolls and Sonamarg/Zoji La environmental passes.
  • Driver Allowances: The driver's daily food and lodging allowance (including their night stay in Kargil).
  • Oxygen Support: Standard medical emergency oxygen canister in the vehicle (upon prior request for SUVs).

info What is Excluded?

The fare does not include your personal hotel accommodation in Kargil, your meals, or entry tickets to tourist monuments (like the Drass War Memorial). It also does not include local sightseeing inside Leh or Ladakh (Pangong, Nubra), as Kashmiri taxis are union-mandated to only provide drop services to Leh town limits.

The "1-Day Sprint" vs. "2-Day Journey"

While a 1-Day direct drop (12-14 hours of non-stop driving) is technically possible and costs roughly ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 less than the 2-Day fare, we strongly advise against it for tourists.

A 1-Day sprint forces your body from 5,000ft (Srinagar) to 11,500ft (Leh) while crossing 13,000ft passes without giving your blood time to acclimatize. This drastically increases the risk of severe AMS. The 2-Day journey with a sleep halt in Kargil (8,700ft) is the medically safest way to travel.

Why Book Direct?

Booking through online aggregators or hotel travel desks often adds a 15% to 25% commission markup on top of these union rates. By booking directly with our fleet dispatch, you secure the official rate, get guaranteed vehicle quality (properly serviced tires and brakes for mountain passes), and ensure the driver gets their fair union wage.
